The incongruous hip joint: a loading study.

چکیده
Hip incongruency was studied by load-displacement and casting methods. Twenty-five joints were loaded in 5 different positions of the walking cycle. Seventeen of them had a space at the apex in all positions, while 3 were congruent at low loads, and the remaining 5 had femoral heads smaller than their acetabula. No trends with age were apparent.

Finite Element Analysis of Different Hip Implant Designs along with Femur under Static Loading Conditions
Background: The hip joint is the largest joint after the knee, which gives stability to the whole human structure. The hip joint consists of a femoral head which articulates with the acetabulum. Due to age and wear between the joints, these joints need to be replaced with implants which can function just as a natural joint. Since the early 19th century, the hip joint arthroplasty has evolved, a...
متن کاملEffects of Gait Speed of Femoroacetabular Joint Forces
Alterations in hip joint loading have been associated with diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis. Understanding the relationship between gait speed and hip joint loading in healthy hips may illuminate changes in gait mechanics as walking speed deviates from preferred. The purpose of this study was to quantify hip joint loading during the gait cycle and identify differences with varying sp...

OBJECTIVES Pseudotumours (abnormal peri-prosthetic soft-tissue reactions) following metal-on-metal hip resurfacing arthroplasty (MoMHRA) have been associated with elevated metal ion levels, suggesting that excessive wear may occur due to edge-loading of these MoM implants. This study aimed to quantify in vivo edge-loading in MoMHRA patients with and without pseudotumours during functional activ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Hip Bracing on Gait in Patients with Medial Knee Osteoarthritis
Objective. Impaired hip motion has been associated with heightened medial knee joint loading in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). A hip external rotation strap designed to pull the femur into external rotation and abduction may serve as one protective mechanism. The primary aim of our study is to determine if the strap decreases medial knee joint loading during level walking in people wit...

The purpose of present study was to investigate the relationship between Anthropometric characteristics and hip joint flexibility among teenaged girls in football schools. The population of this study comprised 120 teenaged girls from football schools of Mashhad. 40 teenaged girls of the population with mean and standard deviation of age 13/90±0/84 years, weight 51/62±6/51 kg, and height 1...
